A famous cartoonist Yvonne Wu returns home after over ten years. She reminisces about her childhood in the 1980's living at Gold Star Motel as a lonely "parachute kid" – immigrant children sent abroad to be raised without their parents. The love and loss in her childhood shaped a young girl’s coming of age, giving her the courage to leave the hopeless town to pursue her love of art.
